Whether you would prefer to meet in person, over the phone or through an online meeting – we are very happy to accommodate your needs and preferences. We offer several options for remote counselling services, as well as in-clinic consultations.
Psychological services are currently available via video/telephone conference or in person on the Gold Coast, QLD on Tuesdays and Thursdays and one Saturday morning per calendar month. Appointments out of usual working hours may be offered on request.
You do not need a referral to receive a Clinical Psychology consultation. However, to access rebates, Medicare and some private health funds will require that you have been referred by a General Practitioner (via a ‘Mental Health Care Plan’) or Psychiatrist.
For individual consultations, sessions are generally conducted in 50 or 90 minute appointments.

Fees are independent of whether or not you are eligible for a Medicare rebate. Treatment services do not attract GST.
MEDICARE – Medicare rebates are potentially available to individuals for a range of mental health treatments, including up to 10 individual consultations and up to 10 group therapy sessions if certain criteria are met (e.g., client is referred by a GP and has a current and valid mental health care plan).
In addition to the standard provision for psychology consultations, under 2020/21 COVID-19 rules, Medicare rebates may be available for more than 10 sessions per calendar year (for in person, telephone or video consultations). Consult your GP for further information.
PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE – If you have private health insurance you may be able to access a rebate for psychological services through your fund. Please check with your private health fund to confirm any rebates available to you.
DPS does not process rebates onsite. Please submit any claim for rebate direct to Medicare or to your private insurer. Clients may be able to claim a rebate of $128.40 from Medicare, or other rebate you’re entitled to from your private health insurer, after full payment is made to Doley Psychology Services.
The appointment fee in full is to be paid by the time of consultation. Receipts are issued on confirmation of payment.

Electronic reminders for appointments are sent to clients 3 working days (72 hours) prior to your appointment. If you do not reply to the SMS to confirm, we assume you will not be attending and may reallocate the session time.

Please note that Medicare will not issue rebates for cancellation/change/fail to attend fees.
A cancellation cannot be provided via text messaging since telecommunications companies advise that there is no guarantee for the delivery of a text message.
